Väinö Mäkelä

Väinö Mäkelä (b. September 20, 1998, Laukaa) is one of Finland’s most successful disc golfers. He is known for his smooth throwing technique, tactically smart gameplay, and ability to perform under pressure. Mäkelä won the Finnish Disc Golf Championship in 2021 and has been on the podium in several major tournaments – including European Championship bronze in 2018 and multiple Finnish Championship medals over the years.

On the international stage, Väinö has established himself as a top player. Ultiworld Disc Golf ranked him as the 17th best player in the world in 2021, and his competitive success continues. He won the Prodigy Disc Pro Tour overall title four years in a row (2018–2021) and is known for his aggressive yet controlled playing style.
