Best Disc Golf Courses in Turku

Some of the best disc golf courses in Turku are the 24 hole pro level course at Lauste, the paid competition course at Luolavuori and seven free courses maintained by the City of Turku across different parts of the city. The courses cover everything from short beginner friendly park layouts to professional level forest courses. Every course has artificial turf tee pads, and most are open throughout the year without reservations or fees. The best course for you depends mainly on your skill level. Beginners are usually better suited to shorter park courses, while experienced players will find more of a challenge at Lauste or Luolavuori.

Which disc golf course in Turku is best for beginners?

Urheilupuisto, Pansio, Maaria, Frantsi and Vätti are among the best options for beginners thanks to their shorter and easier holes. Pansio has 14 reasonably short holes, making it possible for less experienced players to complete the entire course without the round becoming overly difficult. Urheilupuisto is the oldest disc golf course in the Turku area and is located next to Paavo Nurmi Stadium in the city centre. The course was completely redesigned in 2012 and the holes were further improved in 2013. Maaria and Frantsi have 9 and 6 holes respectively, along with separate putting areas, making both suitable for a shorter practice round. Before your first round, it is also worth considering what kind of first disc for a beginner works best on short park style holes.

What is the best disc golf course in Turku for experienced players?

The 24 hole course at Lauste and the competition course at Luolavuori provide the biggest challenge for experienced players in Turku. Lauste was established in 2007 and has hosted major events including the Finnish Championships in 2022. The course is located at Hiihtomajanpolku 13, and its elevation changes combined with a mix of park and forest holes make it demanding even for experienced players. There is no single par standard across Turku's courses because hole lengths and difficulty vary significantly. At Lauste, the elevation changes add much of the challenge, while Luolavuori combines open meadow holes with sections of denser woodland.

Which disc golf courses in Turku are free?

The City of Turku maintains seven free disc golf courses. All of them have artificial turf tee pads, the courses cannot be reserved, and quiet hours apply from 22:00 to 07:00.

  • Frantsi: 6 holes, Prelaatinpolku 7, free to play
  • Hirvensalo: 18 holes, Kakskerrantie 111, free to play, suitable for competitive and recreational players

If none of these courses are close to you, the easiest way to find your nearest disc golf course is to use a course directory with regional search filters.

Are there paid disc golf courses in Turku?

Luolavuori Disc Golf Park, previously known as Aninkainen, is the only paid competition course in Turku. The course was established in 2018 as part of a thesis project at Turku University of Applied Sciences and covers an area of 19 hectares with 18 holes. It became a paid course in 2021, and the course operations were sold to Prodigy Disc Europe Oy in winter 2025. The course has two layouts, blue and white. The blue layout is longer, although both layouts have the same par.
